The state-owned company AySA resumed the construction of a strategic sewer collector in Ingeniero Maschwitz, Escobar district. The project involves laying 13,000 meters of pipes and will benefit over 5,200 residents of the San Miguel neighborhood, according to municipal sources. As reported by the Argentine News Agency, the project aims to improve the drainage system and support the urban growth of the area by connecting a new drainage system to the Luján River. This work had been interrupted for nearly two years. Due to the progress of the works, the Municipality reported a total traffic closure on Avenida Independencia between the Garín stream bridge and Cufré street on Wednesday, February 4th, and Thursday, February 5th. "These are necessary interventions to continue improving infrastructure and supporting the growth of this neighborhood," they stated, defining it as "a fundamental work to guarantee the rights of residents." The completion of the collector was estimated by the authorities to take two months. The mayor, Ariel Sujarchuk, stated: "We will follow this situation very closely to supervise that all the works we had agreed with the company continue, and thus continue to improve the quality of life of the community." The municipal report also mentioned progress or execution of new water mains in other areas, such as La Chechela – Module I in Belén de Escobar, the primary network in the Obrero neighborhood of Maquinista Savio, and the sewer network in Las Glorias neighborhood in Ingeniero Maschwitz. The Municipality also indicated that the work had been halted within the framework of a project paralysis that affected various infrastructure initiatives since December 2023, and noted that in Escobar, more than ten initiatives related to trunk and primary networks necessary to expand services were pending. In this context, the Municipality stated that the reactivation occurred as a result of negotiations and demands from Mayor Ariel Sujarchuk to the company.
