The National Government announced that the RIGI (Regime of Incentive for Large Investments) Evaluation Committee has approved the tenth project, with an investment of over US$660 million. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), the official communication was made by Minister of Economy Luis Caputo.
The minister detailed the projects via his social media accounts. The total investment across all approved projects exceeds US$25 billion.
Approved projects:
- Wind Farm (investment: US$276 million): Will generate 165 jobs in Olavarría, Buenos Aires province.
- Hombre Muerto Oeste Project (investment: US$292 million): Will produce lithium chloride and employ 670 people in Catamarca province.
- Los Azules Project (investment: US$2,672 million): Involves the exploration and exploitation of copper in San Juan province.
- Gualcamayo Project (investment: US$665 million): This project will extend the life of a mine in an exhaustion stage by developing a different type of mineralization. It will create 836 jobs in San Juan province.
- Río Tinto Project (investment: US$2,724 million): Consists of the extraction and processing of lithium in the Rincón salt flat, Salta province. It will create 7,390 jobs.
- Terminals and Service SA (investment: US$277 million): Will feature two docks and storage spaces for agricultural grains, general cargo, and liquids in Santa Fe province. The minister stated that 1,700 people will be employed directly.
- Sidersa Project (investment: US$286 million): Will install a steel plant for the production of long steels in the city of San Nicolás, Buenos Aires province. It will create 384 jobs.
- Vaca Muerta Sur Pipeline (investment: US$2,486 million): Involves a 437-kilometer pipeline connecting Allen with Punta Colorada in Río Negro province.
- Natural Gas Liquefaction Plant (investment: US$6,878 million): Involves the liquefaction of natural gas in the Gulf of San Matías, Río Negro province.
- El Quemado Solar Park (investment: US$211 million): Creation of a photovoltaic solar park in Las Heras, Mendoza province. It will create 9,700 jobs.
Thus, with the recent announcement by Caputo, a total of ten RIGI projects have been approved, with a total investment of more than US$25 billion.
