YPF and McDonald's: Gas Stations Turn into Mini-Malls

The Argentine oil company YPF has reached an agreement with McDonald's to incorporate the global hamburger chain into its network of Full stores. YPF is also advancing with the inclusion of the empanada franchise Mi Gusto and with Farmacity, thus turning the gas station space into a virtual mini-shopping center.

Horacio MarĂn, CEO and president of the flag-carrier oil company, stated that forming an alliance with McDonald's, the global hamburger chain, sets a new standard for customer service at gas stations and strengthens the premium offering, according to the testimony collected by the Argentine News Agency.

The expansion plan the company is engaged in aims to differentiate YPF from competitors such as Shell, Axion, and Puma in terms of customer service. Gas stations are no longer content with providing high-quality fuel and imposing their pricing policy; they are evolving as centers for meeting and socializing. To achieve this, they seek to maximize internet connectivity and create a welcoming environment to attract both young people and adults.

The types of stores to be formed are divided into three, each designed to meet the various needs and expectations of the market. YPF Black for premium models, YPF Traditional, which covers the already established lines, and YPF Refiplus, conceived as an economic alternative in regions with lower demand.

Towards this objective, it partnered with McDonald's and has just announced the incorporation of the popular empanadas "Mi Gusto", a brand that has gained public visibility in recent years, which strengthens its gastronomic offering, to which it will add a chef to turn the company into a benchmark of high quality in the gas station sector.

In this way, the Full stores, pillars within the YPF ecosystem, are undertaking another drastic change with the intention of: optimizing their operating margins, enhancing brand identity, and offering a truly enriching experience for consumers.

Digitalization Trends n It has already gone through the stage of adapting to digitalization trends, prioritizing the development of technological solutions, such as the expansion of its digital wallet, the payment of services for more than 6,000 companies, and anticipating demand through artificial intelligence.

The significant transformation in its customer service area aims to revolutionize the experience of its customers at gas stations. The focus is on highlighting the company in a market that is constantly looking for new ways to foster loyalty.

The selection of partners responds to the search for consistency between offering, operation, and customer experience.
