Argentina Sets New Minimum Wages for Agricultural Workers

The National Commission on Agricultural Labor has established new wage scales for multiple harvesting and handling agricultural activities in the provinces of Mendoza and San Juan, as published today in the Official Gazette. Through nine resolutions accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the body set minimum remunerations for workers engaged in tasks such as in-row garlic descaling, plum harvesting, raisin grape harvesting, tomato harvesting, melon harvesting, squash harvesting, watermelon harvesting, and fig cutting and handling. The new scales are effective from December 1, 2025, and will, in most cases, extend until November 2026, depending on the activity in question. The resolutions establish that the salaries do not include the proportional part of the annual complementary salary, and that the 10% indemnity for vacations must be paid in accordance with Article 20 of the Agricultural Labor Law. In all regulations, a two percent monthly guild solidarity quota was established on the total remunerations, which employers must withhold and deposit by the fifteenth of each month into the account of the Argentine Union of Rural Workers and Stevedores (UATRE). Union members are exempt from this contribution. The members of the commission have committed to meet when any of the parties so requests to analyze possible economic variations that could affect the established wage scales.
