Head-to-Head Battle: Toyota Yaris and Fiat Cronos Fight for Top Spot with Tiny Margin

The annual leadership in the Argentinian auto market is far from being decided, with very narrow margins. The head-to-head fight is incredibly close, with only 400 units separating the top contenders. According to official data from the Association of Car Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA), the most registered models from January to November are: Toyota Yaris (29,551 units), Fiat Cronos (29,138 units), Peugeot 208 (28,251 units), Toyota Hilux (28,959 units), and Ford Ranger (23,969 units). The battle between the Fiat Cronos and the Toyota Yaris to be the king of registrations in 2025 is one of the tightest gaps of the year, a dispute that has already seen several leadership changes. In November, the top registered models were: Toyota Hilux – 1,831 units, Peugeot 208 – 1,343 units, Volkswagen Tera – 1,327 units, Fiat Cronos – 1,261 units, and Toyota Yaris – 1,256 units. The monthly snapshot reveals a fragmented market where no model can clearly pull ahead, and the annual ranking is reconfigured each month. Both the Fiat Cronos and the Toyota Yaris have maintained a dominant presence in the market for different but complementary reasons: one due to its national production, affordability, and strong availability, and the other for its reputation for reliability, efficiency, and safety equipment. This combination explains why both models alternate in the lead month after month and arrive in December with a minimal difference in their annual total. The difference between the two main models is becoming increasingly tight, and November brought a new change in the ranking. Two popular models are fighting for the top spots each month, and everything indicates that the decision will be stretched to the last days of December. In November, the Argentinian automotive market felt a seasonal slowdown and registered 34,905 units, a 33.2% drop from October and a 3.6% decrease compared to the same month last year. With these figures, the difference between the Yaris and Cronos is only 413 units in favor of the Japanese model.
