Buenos Aires, November 19 (NA) – Dana, a company specializing in transmission, suspension, and brake parts for vehicles, has closed its plant in the province of San Luis and laid off 50 employees without prior notice. However, the auto parts company stated that all laid-off employees will receive 100% of the corresponding compensation. According to information from Naschel Noticias obtained by the Argentine News Agency, the definitive closure of the auto parts company was communicated on Monday evening. This decision, made by the parent company in the United States, was relayed to employees via WhatsApp messages. The Metalworkers' Union (UOM) denounced that the multinational's decision will also indirectly affect another 40 jobs at local suppliers. In this regard, the government of San Luis issued a statement announcing that on Tuesday, it would accompany the laid-off workers during a concentration in front of the factory. Among the provincial officials were the Director of Labor Relations, Ivana Balmaceda, and the Director of Industry, Juan Ríos. In turn, the provincial government detailed that the company has committed to supporting the workers in a labor and productivity reconversion plan for the laid-off employees. Provincial authorities indicated that they will also accompany them in this process. Dana is responsible for manufacturing auto parts and transmission components in the west-central Argentine province. In the past, it has secured contracts as a supplier to automotive assembly plants.
