Renault has unveiled a new generation of its iconic city car, the Twingo, in a fully electric version. The new Twingo E-Tech combines the best of two worlds: it retains the rounded lines that made it unmistakable but reinterprets them with a modern and technological aesthetic.
The new model is set to debut in the European market in early 2026, with a launch price below €20,000 and a maximum range of 263 kilometers, positioning it below the Renault Kwid E-Tech, which can travel 300 kilometers on a full charge.
Design and Interior
The new Renault Twingo E-Tech preserves its rounded, iconic lines but reinterprets them with a modern, technological aesthetic. The five-door hatchback body improves functionality, while the interior is designed to maximize space utilization. It includes two independent, sliding rear seats, foldable backrests, and multiple storage compartments, making it an ideal option for urban environments.
The digital dashboard and the OpenR Link multimedia system with Google integration complete a more than interesting equipment package for a vehicle in its class.
Electric Motor and Urban Range
The Renault Twingo E-Tech is equipped with a 60 kW (82 hp) electric motor and 175 Nm of torque, prioritizing agility and efficiency. Few cars left such a marked mark in the '90s as the Renault Twingo, a disruptive vehicle at the time that became an ally of the middle class for urban mobility and also performed well on the road: 30 years later, its spirit returns renewed with the new Twingo E-Tech, a 100% electric version of that classic with a futuristic aesthetic.
Motor and Battery
The car is powered by a 60 kW (82 hp) electric motor and 175 Nm of torque, prioritizing agility and efficiency. Its 27.5 kWh LFP battery provides a range of up to 263 km (WLTP). It can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in 3.85 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 km/h, more than enough for the city and its surroundings.
Charging options are versatile: home charging (AC 6.6 kW) from 10% to 100% in 4 hours 15 minutes; advanced charging (AC 11 kW) in 2 hours 35 minutes; and fast charging (DC 50 kW) from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. This versatility positions it as a practical alternative for both urban and suburban users.
Technology and ADAS
Although it belongs to the A-segment (city car), the Twingo E-Tech incorporates technologies typically found in higher-category vehicles. It includes features such as autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic alert, parking assistance, and a one-pedal driving mode. Its combination of a competitive price, low consumption, and attractive design aims to once again democratize urban mobility, just as its predecessor did over three decades ago.
