Argentina Sets New Biofuel Prices

The Ministry of Economy's Secretariat of Energy officially set the prices for bioethanol and biodiesel destined for mandatory blending with fossil fuels this Monday. The new values and a modification to the mandatory blend percentage for diesel were established through authority resolutions and came into effect today. The minimum price for bioethanol made from sugarcane was set at $918,025 per liter, while the minimum price for corn-based bioethanol is $841,394 per liter. Biodiesel intended for mandatory blending has a fixed acquisition price of $1,688,961 per ton. Additionally, a temporary reduction in the mandatory blend percentage of biodiesel in diesel fuel and oil was set at 7%, measured on the total quantity of the final product. The regulation states that this measure is implemented temporarily to mitigate the impact of the increase in soybean oil prices on the production costs of biodiesel, and consequently, on the pump price of diesel.
