The Argentine government has extended for one year the norm that allows temporary work in agriculture without losing social benefits. Decree 777/2025, published this Thursday in the Official Gazette, extends Decree N 514/21, which aimed to promote registered employment and expand social security benefits for rural workers in temporary and seasonal activities. The official statement explained: «As the expiration of its validity approached, various actors from regional economies, unions, and producer associations have expressed the convenience of continuing this norm to consolidate the results achieved». The government also noted that the measures «have contributed to the labor inclusion of sector workers, the improvement of their income and living conditions, and those of their family groups». In turn, employers can access a reduction in their social security contributions. This measure was originally promoted by the Alberto Fernández administration in 2021 for two years and renewed in 2023 for the same period. According to the decree, during temporary work, workers can continue to receive social benefits they had before being hired, such as Family Allowances, the Food Card, and the Potenciar Trabajo program.
