The Argentine government approved a loan from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for US$500 million to finance the "Macroeconomic Stability Support Program." The agreement was formalized through Decree 313/2025 published in the Official Bulletin. The general objective of the program is to strengthen the country's balance of payments, focusing on improving monetary and exchange rate policy.
The disbursement of the $500 million will be made in a single payment, with a seven-year term for its repayment, which includes a semiannual amortization schedule. Argentina will begin debt repayment three years after receiving the funds, making successive semiannual payments. The official guarantee was carried out after an analysis of the conditions by the Central Bank and the National Public Credit Office.
The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic stated that the impact on the Balance of Payments from this loan will be limited and consistent with projected external operations. The National Public Credit Office does not object to the financing as the financial cost of the loan is lower than what the country could obtain in the market.
The execution of the loan and the use of the funds will be the responsibility of the Ministry of Economy through the Secretary of Finance. The Minister of Economy is authorized to make necessary modifications for the execution of the program, as long as they do not substantially change the destination of the funds, increase their amount, or alter the established procedure.
