The national government has eliminated export duties on a large number of industrial products in Argentina, benefiting thousands of exporting companies. Through Decree 305/2025, export taxes were removed from 88% of products, representing a significant change for 4,411 products that will no longer pay between 3% and 4.5% on the value of their exports.
This measure has been highlighted by the Executive as crucial to improving the competitiveness of Argentine companies in the international market and promoting their exports. It was noted that this significantly affected the competitiveness of these companies and constituted a disincentive to export. With this tax elimination, the government aims to support the transformation of economic policy and optimize state resources to boost macroeconomic stabilization.
It was emphasized that the industry will be practically exempt from paying these taxes, except for some specific sectors such as iron, steel, aluminum, petrochemical, and automotive industries. It has been argued that this measure seeks to promote administrative simplification, stimulate economic activity, generate employment, and increase foreign currency inflows without compromising fiscal balance.
Benefited sectors include agricultural parts, agricultural machinery, machinery and equipment, pharmaceuticals, among others. Additionally, high-value-added products such as cosmetics, autoparts, plastics, and metals are exempted from duties.
Economy Minister Luis Caputo expressed his support for this measure, highlighting its impact on tax reduction and improvement in the private sector. On the other hand, the government’s political strategy was mentioned by contrasting this measure with the policies implemented during Kirchnerism, associated with increased government spending and taxes on the private sector, which, according to him, led to high levels of poverty and indigence in the country.
In summary, this decision seeks not only to boost local industry and exports but also to promote job creation, increase competitiveness, and simplify the administrative environment for exporting companies in Argentina.
