BMW Motorcycle Sales Expected to Rise in Argentina

BMW executives predict a 40% growth in motorcycle sales this year in Argentina due to new models and improved economic conditions. This follows a significant increase of 74% last year, showcasing the brand's strong presence in the local market.

BMW Motorcycle Sales Expected to Rise in Argentina

A new Chinese automotive company is about to arrive in the country and bring the first 100% electric pickup truck, although its arrival will not be in the short term. Agustín Hinterholzer, director of BMW Motorrad Argentina and Importing Markets of Latin America, and Gabriel Costa, head of BMW Motorrad Argentina, noted that they anticipate a growth in motorcycle sales close to 40% in Argentina, in a year of "adjustment and stabilization."

Hinterholzer mentioned that last year was very positive for the company and they expect to continue in that direction. The price reduction due to the cut in internal taxes has stimulated sales, although a greater impact is expected in the coming months. Despite these advances, current sales figures are far from those recorded in the brand's best year in Argentina, 2017.

BMW executives highlighted that BMW Motorrad motorcycles sold in Argentina are extra-zone, manufactured in Brazil, and they are evaluating the possibility of importing them directly into the country as they are within Mercosur. Additionally, they believe that the unsatisfied demand of the last 18 months has begun to be addressed due to regulatory changes and other measures.

The company also plans to introduce motorcycles from other segments that are more accessible to the Argentine market. However, despite BMW's leading position in the premium segment, they anticipate the arrival of new competitors, including Chinese brands that could bring models to compete in this market.

Regarding the challenges ahead, executives pointed out that a possible devaluation could affect prices, making this a relevant issue to consider in the immediate future. The opening of imports has led to the arrival of new competitors in the motorcycle market, which pushes BMW Motorrad to remain competitive and attractive to customers.

The company is expected to launch the premium scooter line in June in the country, while next year the arrival of electric models CE 02 and CE 04 is projected. With an aggressive plan to compete in a more open and competitive market, BMW Motorrad seeks to maintain its strong position in the motorcycle sector in Argentina.
