Governors Demand Elimination of Retentions in Argentina

Governors Maximiliano Pullaro of Santa Fe and Rogelio Frigerio of Entre Ríos have again urged the government of Javier Milei to eliminate export taxes. Pullaro expressed the need for the government to pay more attention to productive areas, especially in agriculture and industry, as these are fundamental sectors for job creation. He opposed the increase in export taxes proposed in the Basic Law and defended their total elimination, considering them an important support for the agricultural sector.

Frigerio, for his part, highlighted the importance of allowing the agricultural sector to develop without obstacles, pointing out that it has historically been the engine of the Argentine Republic and that its performance has been key in difficult situations. He agreed with Pullaro that the priority should be to reduce export taxes, considering them crucial for easing the tax burden.

Regarding the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) through a Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU), both governors expressed support for the measure, indicating that it was an urgent necessity. Pullaro emphasized the need for the government to focus on policies that promote development and job creation in the interior of the country. Additionally, he stressed the importance of public works to improve the quality of life for the population, thereby supporting the stance of former president Mauricio Macri.

Frigerio also addressed the issue of the dollar's value, highlighting that it is a recurring issue in Argentina and that the lack of real information is due to currency controls. Together, both governors underlined the importance of promoting measures to strengthen the national economy, with special emphasis on agriculture and industry as fundamental engines of the country.
