Warning about a new financial scam in Argentina

Authorities have issued a warning about a new scam involving false statements from the Minister of Economy of the Nation, Luis 'Toto' Caputo, to promote a fictitious investment platform called 'Immediate AI Trader'. This scam guarantees daily profits ranging from 850 thousand to two million pesos. The Federal Prosecutor's Office No. 5 of the Federal Capital, led by Franco Picardi, has initiated investigations into these allegations.

The scammers have created two fraudulent websites that mimic the appearance of the official website of the Argentine government (Argentina.gob.ar) and an article from the newspaper La Nación to lend credibility to their deception. To avoid falling victim to these scams, it is recommended to research the reputation of companies online before investing, verify the legitimacy of the offer before making payments, and not share personal information on unverified websites.

In the event of being a victim of this scam, victims are urged to report the incident via email at denunciasufeci@mpf.gov.ar or contact the Federal Prosecutor's Office No. 5 at the email fiscrf5-nac@mpf.gov.ar. It is also advised to stay alert to excessively high returns and to be wary of offers circulating on social media or messaging services.

The fraudulent scheme is based on the alleged appearance of a video on a fake Facebook profile containing false statements from Caputo about how to obtain easy profits through the platform. The scammers redirect users to an online form to collect personal information and contact details with the aim of obtaining funds from victims. It is noteworthy that in February, the Prosecutor's Office was investigating another similar scam, called 'PrimeAurora', which also used the image of the Minister of Economy to attract potential investors.
