Argentina's Oil Production Set to Double by 2027

During CERAWeek 2025, the most important global energy meeting held in Houston, Texas, the president and CEO of the Techint group, Paolo Rocca, pointed out that import tariffs are being used as a tool to redirect the industry. Rocca mentioned that Trump seeks to control China’s dominant influence and revitalize the industry in the United States, which he considers a reasonable strategy.

The event's main focus was on Argentina and its growing development in the exploitation of Vaca Muerta, raising great expectations. It is projected that the country's oil production will double by 2027, reaching 1.5 million barrels per day. Currently, production is around 760,000 barrels per day and continues to rise, which has led YPF to present record balances.

It is expected that with the commissioning of the Vaca Muerta Oil Sur pipeline in early 2027, production will experience notable exponential growth. During the event, Rocca expressed his optimism about the future and analyzed the policies implemented by U.S. President Donald Trump. Other notable participants included the CEO of Tecpetrol, Carlos Ormachea, and the CEO of Transportadora de Gas del Norte (TGN), Daniel Ridelener.
