In the first quarter of 2025, the Argentine automotive market showed encouraging signs with a total of 112,396 vehicles registered, representing an increase of 99.8% compared to the same period last year. Toyota and Fiat stood out in the figures, with 17,141 and 15,307 vehicles registered respectively. This scenario marked a significant change as a year ago, Toyota had a 66% market share.
Regarding the most demanded models, the Fiat Cronos was positioned as the best-selling vehicle of the month, with 2,872 units registered. Of the total registrations, 44% corresponded to locally produced cars, indicating a boost in the local industry. This positive start to the year contrasts with the 7.9% decline that the automotive market experienced in 2024.
Several prominent brands demonstrated solid performance in the market. Volkswagen led sales from January with 18,847 units registered, followed by Toyota and Fiat. In February, sales of new vehicles grew by 71.3%, reflecting a good pace of sustained growth since January. In this context, the increase in the share of imported vehicles in total sales is significant.
A growth of at least 10% to 15% is projected for the Argentine automotive industry in 2025. Expectations are optimistic and many aim to recover key figures in the domestic market. Sebastián Beato, president of Acara, highlighted the positive impact of tax reductions and the wide range of vehicles on the current dynamism of the sector. With these encouraging indicators, a promising year for the automotive industry in Argentina is anticipated.
