UFECI warns about a scam that uses a fake profile of the Minister of Economy to promote the fraudulent platform PrimeAurora. Fraudulent websites mimicking government pages have been created.

Warning about investment scam in Argentina

The Specialized Fiscal Unit for Cybercrime (UFECI) has alerted about a scam involving the use of the image of the Minister of Economy of Argentina, Luis "Toto" Caputo, to promote a fraudulent investment platform called "PrimeAurora." This fraudulent action is being investigated by Federal Prosecutor's Office No. 5, under the direction of prosecutor Franco Picardi.

Additionally, false websites simulating the official government site (Argentina.gob.ar) and an article from the newspaper La Nación have been identified. These pages are used to lend credibility to the scam. The modus operandi of the scam consists of advertising an investment with high returns starting from a minimum deposit of 230 thousand pesos. Interested parties are redirected to an online form where they must provide personal and contact information.

With this data, criminals refine their scheme and manage to capture the funds of the victims. UFECI warns about similar scams on social media, where public figures are used to endorse fraudulent investments. To prevent falling into these traps, it is recommended to verify the reputation of any investment platform before making deposits, distrust promises of excessive returns, not share personal information on unofficial sites, and carefully review web addresses, as many fraudulent sites contain errors.

If you are a victim of this scam, you can report it by sending an email to denunciasufeci@mpf.gov.ar with the subject "denuncia PrimeAurora" or contact Federal Prosecutor's Office No. 5 directly at fiscripf5-nac@mpf.gov.ar. The importance of reporting these events lies in preventing more people from falling into such scams.
