Global airline demand increased significantly in January 2025, with Asia-Pacific airlines leading the growth at 21.8%. Overall passenger numbers rose by 10%, showcasing a strong recovery in the aviation sector, particularly following the challenges faced during the previous years.

In January 2025, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) shared revealing data about the aviation industry. Globally, total demand increased by 10.0% compared to the previous year, while total capacity grew by 7.1% year-on-year, with a record load factor of 82.1%. The demand for international passengers rose by 12.4% compared to January 2024.

In this regard, all regions experienced growth in international passenger markets, with Asia-Pacific showing the highest dynamism. European and North American markets also recorded an increase in demand. IATA's Director General, Willie Walsh, highlighted the strong performance of Asia-Pacific airlines and pointed out that choice, adaptability, and passenger satisfaction were crucial aspects for the sector.

Regarding domestic markets, domestic RPKs increased by 6.1%, with particularly strong growth in India, Japan, and China. Latin American airlines saw a year-on-year increase of 12.9% in passenger demand. European and North American airlines also experienced an increase in demand, with record load factors.
