It is expected that at the next meeting, scheduled for February 22, the Argentine president will outline his geopolitical alignments with Trump and propose a bilateral agenda to strengthen the adjustment program in the country’s economy and finances.

This visit marked the second meeting between Milei and Georgieva in the last thirty days, reaffirming their shared views on the negotiation between Argentina and the IMF. Milei expressed his commitment not to devalue the Argentine currency and sought to close an agreement that guarantees an additional disbursement of at least $11 billion to strengthen the Central Bank's reserves and relax financial restrictions.

Before the meeting with Georgieva, Milei met with Elon Musk, special advisor to Donald Trump, to discuss international issues and potential investments in Argentina. Milei and Musk held an open agenda meeting in Washington, where various topics of mutual interest were addressed.

Additionally, Milei is scheduled to present at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and meet with World Bank President Ajay Banga, who will visit Argentina at the end of March. The Argentine president will return to Buenos Aires with his entourage on February 22, after intense days of meetings in Washington.

The meeting with Georgieva took place at IMF offices, with the presence of other key figures from the Argentine government, such as Economy Minister Luis Caputo, Presidential Chief of Staff Karina Milei, spokesperson Manuel Adorni, and Foreign Minister Gerardo Werthein. Details regarding the format and duration of this bilateral meeting have not yet been defined.
