Financial Scandal in Argentina over the $LIBRA Token

Recent events have been classified as a matter of utmost institutional seriousness by the Radical Civic Union (UCR). The UCR has criticized the president for using his official account to promote $LIBRA, a cryptocurrency, which led to a rapid fluctuation in its value. According to the UCR, the token experienced a considerable rise before significantly devaluing.

In a statement, the UCR expressed: "The presidential word cannot be handled with such irresponsibility." The political party believes that presidential statements on economic-financial matters should only be made when strictly necessary and in the public interest.

The UCR Deputy Block urged the Government to conduct an immediate investigation into $LIBRA to clarify what happened. They also demanded a prompt investigation to determine any legal, civil, or criminal responsibility that Milei may have in relation to the scandal.

In its statement, the UCR emphasized the importance of the presidential investiture as a fundamental asset for the country, its institutions, and any economic plan. The political party requested an immediate clarification from President Javier Milei regarding the $LIBRA incident, where, according to the UCR, platform administrators profited economically at the expense of investors.
