According to sources from Casa Rosada, at an event called "Institutional Partners" on October 19, 2024, Milei came into contact with the cryptocurrency developers. Besides Milei, Damian Reidel, head of the President of Argentina's Advisory Council, Roberto Silva, president of the National Securities Commission (CNV), and Roberto García Moritín, former Minister of Economic Development of the City, participated in the meeting.
After the event, the head of state promoted the digital asset of $Libra on his social networks, which sparked criticism from the opposition who denounced a possible scam with Milei's endorsement. It was announced that a request for an Impeachment Trial against him would be presented due to this support.
