Interruption of the Tigre branch of the Mitre line

The company Trenes Argentinos announced that from February 22 to March 4, the Tigre branch of the Mitre line will experience interruptions due to ongoing works. During this period, the service will be limited to the Belgrano R station, not reaching the Retiro terminal.

According to the company, the interruption of the branch is necessary to carry out a crucial work, which involves the comprehensive renewal of tracks and signaling in poor condition. The work has already begun with preliminary preparations and is expected to last approximately 24 months, starting with an intensive phase of ten days from February 22.

"This is a key work pending for many years, which consists of replacing tracks and sleepers that are over 30 years old," noted a company representative. Currently, the state of the tracks forces a reduction in the speed of circulation in more than 50 sectors along the route, making this renewal imperative.

The work will be carried out by Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura (ADIF) as part of the Railway Emergency declared by the National Government. The renewal will cover 40 kilometers of tracks between Empalme Maldonado and Tigre, including level crossings and signaling.
