The Argentine Government has issued the first 300 thousand official letters to start the audit of Non-Contributory Pensions for Labor Invalidity. These notifications are directed to beneficiaries from several provinces, such as Buenos Aires, Mendoza, San Luis, Santa Fe, and Chaco, as part of a reorganization of the system carried out by the Ministry of Health of the Nation.
In this first batch, 300 thousand notifications have been sent to beneficiaries from the mentioned provinces. The aim of this process, which is expected to encompass more than a million cases, is to ensure that the Non-Contributory Pensions for Labor Invalidity (PNCIL) meet the established legal criteria and that the benefit reaches only those who truly need it, according to Decree 842/2024.
"If the projections made by the Ministry of Health and the National Disability Agency (ANDIS) hold, it is expected to generate a saving of 900 billion pesos for this year," the Government declared. The first stage consists of sending official letters inviting beneficiaries to attend an appointment with a PAMI doctor, to present the required documentation and undergo necessary interviews and checks.
Subsequently, ANDIS professionals will review the documentation and issue rulings to determine who meets the requirements to continue receiving the benefit. Attendance at the appointment is mandatory, as failure to attend may lead to the suspension of the PNCIL. It was also revealed that 150 deceased individuals and 212 inmates were receiving a disability pension. In October, 14 fugitives receiving such pensions were arrested.
The schedule plans to review all active pensions by the first half of 2025. It has been made possible to justify the absence up to 24 hours before the appointment, via email or WhatsApp. The Ministry of Health has signed agreements with ANDIS and PAMI to carry out these audits, which began in 2024 due to irregularities in the pensions.
Last year, a total of 22,417 pensions were audited, of which only 20% met the established requirements.
