ANSES Introduces New CUIL Requirements

The national government of Argentina has updated CUIL requirements for both citizens and foreigners. The changes detail necessary documentation for obtaining or unifying CUILs amid current social security reforms.

ANSES Introduces New CUIL Requirements

The National Administration of Social Security (ANSES), belonging to the Ministry of Human Capital, informed about the requirements to obtain the Unique Labor Identification Code (CUIL). For Argentines over 18 years old, it is necessary to present the DNI; while minors must present the birth certificate of the minor and the DNIs of the parents and the minor.

In the case of foreigners over 18 years old, they must have a DNI for foreigners or naturalized individuals. For those who do not yet have the DNI, a migration file is required that includes the type of valid residency, entry into the country, and a passport specifying the type of residency. Additionally, a permit of entry into the country issued by consulates or under international agreements is required.

As for foreign minors under 18 years old, the birth certificate with information about the minor and the parents is requested. If this was issued abroad, it must be legalized, apostilled, and translated if not in Spanish. ANSES exempts the visa, translation, and legalization for birth certificates from certain countries.

Persons with permanent residence abroad who need the CUIL for Social Security benefits must present the document from their country of origin and a certified application form if there is an international agreement. ANSES emphasizes the importance of this procedure to access programs such as Family Allowances, Universal Child Allowance, and pensions and retirements.

In the case of foreigners who will work in an employment relationship, it is necessary to generate a provisional CUIL in ANSES and then request the unification with the definitive one once the DNI for foreigners or naturalized individuals is obtained. The CUIL receipt downloaded and printed from the ANSES website is valid for all procedures, has no expiration date, and does not require a signature or seal. Additionally, it is necessary for carrying out procedures in various public and banking entities.
