The Government has formalized resolution 1/2025 from the Superintendency of Health Services, eliminating the triangulation of social security contributions so that the payments are directed straight to the private health insurance providers. This means that the Revenue and Customs Control Agency (ARCA) can now send the contributions and payments directly to the private insurance companies, including those prior to the elimination of the intermediary.
By ceasing to receive the commission from triangulation, a net benefit is expected for both workers and their employers, as this commission applied to contributions from both the employee and the company. According to the Government, the percentages of the intermediary ranged between 3% and 10%.
Members of the private insurance plans who redirected contributions through social security do not have to carry out any additional procedures, as the resolution facilitates this change implemented from December 1st. However, few workers have managed this modification in the ARCA platform.
To ensure the principle of free choice, the possibility is introduced for beneficiaries to exercise their right to remain in the Social Security by declaring their wish to receive only the medical benefits provided by the Social Security they are affiliated with. Those wishing to make this change must complete the remote procedure called 'Declaration of Intention to Remain in Social Security' through the ARCA website or the Superintendency of Health Services.
