
According to the monthly survey conducted by the Di Tella University, inflation expectations in Argentina have significantly decreased in January 2025. The average stands at 4.25%, with a median of 3%, marking a reduction compared to December figures. The study was based on a sample of 1,000 cases across the country, focusing on individual perspectives regarding the widespread increase in prices.
Regarding expected inflation for the next 30 days, a decrease has been observed compared to the previous month, indicating a downward trend in inflation expectations. By region, it is noteworthy that the Interior has reported the lowest expectations at 38.8%, followed by Greater Buenos Aires (GBA) at 44.5% and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) at 47.6%. These figures are lower compared to December data in all three regions.
Concerning different income levels, a decrease in inflation expectations has been noted for both lower and higher-income households. For lower-income households, expectations have changed from 47% to 41.2% this month. The inflation expectations for the next 12 months are set at 41.2%, marking the lowest level since April 2020, according to the study.
It is relevant to highlight that the median has remained at 30%, indicating a decline compared to the previous month when the average was at 45%. Additionally, a decrease in inflation expectations for 30 days has been recorded, with an average of 4.25% and a median of 3%, signaling a significant reduction compared to December values.
In conclusion, the survey reflects a general decline in inflation expectations across all regions of the country, with the Interior showing the lowest inflation expectation. This data was collected between January 2 and January 15, 2025, evidencing the downward trend in the population's inflation projections.
