Pizza Hut Plans Return to Argentina After 30 Years

Pizza Hut anticipates reentering the Argentine market after over 30 years, aiming to open its first store through a local franchise or international investors this year.

Pizza Hut Plans Return to Argentina After 30 Years

The well-known pizza chain Pizza Hut is reportedly planning its return to the Argentine market after more than 30 years of absence. Although the company has not yet officially confirmed the opening of stores, the first point of sale is expected to be inaugurated this year, possibly through a local franchise or international investors.

Historically, Pizza Hut has had two failed attempts in Argentina, in 1983 and 1992, due to difficulties competing with local pizzerias in terms of taste preferences and pricing strategies. This time, the brand plans to re-enter the Argentine market in 2025 and open stores under a franchise model, adapting to the needs and preferences of Argentine consumers.

Globally, Pizza Hut has 19,750 restaurants in 110 countries and is the second largest pizza chain in the world, owned by Yum! Brands. However, its success in Argentina will depend on its ability to adapt to local tastes and excel in a highly competitive market and complex economic context.

The potential return of Pizza Hut to the country comes at a time when Argentina continues to attract large international brands and where economic deregulations have facilitated the entry of foreign investments. Although the brand faces challenges in the region, such as the recent closure of its branches in Chile, the Argentine gastronomic sector and consumers are eagerly anticipating its possible return.
