Government Meeting with Agricultural Entities

The Liaison Table and the Government held a technical meeting this Wednesday to analyze the decree that establishes the reduction of withholdings and prepare for the meeting on February 6 with the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo. Political representatives from agricultural organizations and government officials were present at the meeting.

Carlos Castagnani from Argentine Rural Confederations emphasized the importance of ensuring that the benefit of the reduction in withholdings truly reaches the producers and does not solely benefit exporters. Lucas Magnano from Coninagro also highlighted the need for this reduction to be reflected in prices for producers.

Agricultural entities expressed their concern about the effectiveness of the measure, stressing the importance of internal market prices reflecting this reduction. Meanwhile, sources related to the agro-export sector indicated that final prices will depend on various variables, such as regulations and the payment capacity of exporters.

In addition to the reduction in withholdings, other topics such as tax removal and the situation of land rentals were addressed. It is expected that the meeting with Minister Caputo will discuss the possibility of completely eliminating withholdings, as well as concerns about the fluctuation of the dollar and its impact on the sector.

Despite the fact that prices in the Chicago market have decreased since the announcement of the measure, the Government indicated that the reduction of withholdings is already having a positive impact on the competitiveness of producers. It is anticipated that the coming days will allow for a more consolidated assessment of the effects of this measure on the agricultural sector.
