In the Salteña town of Horcones, a freight train was suspended in the air after part of the structure of a bridge broke, located between Rosario de la Frontera and Metán. The incident took place this Wednesday at noon, specifically at kilometer 953, with no injuries reported.
The train belonging to the company Trenes Argentinos Cargas was left hanging after the collapse, although the rest of the wagons kept it suspended, thus preventing a fall into the void. Authorities have not yet determined the exact causes of the bridge's breakage, although it is speculated that the heavy rains in recent days may have undermined the supports, compounded by the lack of maintenance on the structure.
It is important to mention that the national government had already declared a railway emergency previously, especially after the train collision incident in Palermo in the middle of last year.
On the other hand, regarding the event in Horcones, the director of the company Trenes Argentinos Cargas stated: 'We are assessing the situation and working in coordination with local authorities to ensure safety in the area, as well as determining the steps to follow to safely restore train circulation.'
