The head of the Energy and Mining Department, Jaime Álvarez, highlighted the importance of local companies having access to contracts in the sector so that the economic benefits remain in Santa Cruz and reach a larger number of people. Under the initiative of Governor Claudio Vidal, actions are being taken to strengthen the value chain in the province in collaboration with oil and mining operators.
The issue of monopolistic schemes in labor contracting is being addressed, aiming to promote the inclusion of SMEs and the hiring of local labor in oil and mining activities. The goal is for local companies to have the majority of their employees based in the province, generating a positive economic impact in the territory.
The Ministry of Energy and Mining continues to work to ensure that the greatest economic benefit from extractive activities stays in Santa Cruz. In collaboration with the Ministry of Labor of the province, they seek to guarantee greater economic benefits that translate into well-being for the people of Santa Cruz.
Working groups have been established with local operators, and the Chamber of Suppliers of Energy, Mining, and Environmental Services of the Province of Santa Cruz (CAPPEMA) has been created. This chamber participates in working groups with companies in the sector, with the aim of having operators disclose their costs and allow competition from local companies in tenders.
Álvarez emphasized the importance of promoting a virtuous cycle in the economy and mentioned that previously, large companies from other provinces absorbed the majority of the jobs in the sector due to their lower costs. To reverse this situation, strategies are being implemented to encourage the participation of local companies in extractive activities in Santa Cruz.
