The national government has decided to lower export duties for crops until June and eliminate withholdings for regional economies. Aldo Abram, executive director at the Libertad y Progreso Foundation, commented that the government showed interest in reducing withholdings once the increase in tax revenue was guaranteed and public spending was controlled to maintain effective equilibrium. This move adds to the fiscal efforts being made by the Province of Córdoba in harmony with the Córdoba rural sector.
According to Abram, measures have been taken in Córdoba such as the elimination of the collection of Gross Income Tax on production, the suppression of the Minimum Purchase Tax, and the allocation of 98% of the revenue from the Rural Property Tax to infrastructure investments for the rural sector. On the other hand, Andrea Sarnari, president of the Argentine Agrarian Federation (FAA), believes that the government's decision is positive and will contribute to greater revenue due to the recovery of the economy and the stimulus for producers to plant more and liquidate their stocks.
The governor of Entre Ríos, Rogelio Frigerio, has emphasized that this measure had been requested for a long time by the producing provinces. In his opinion, if the agricultural sector prospers, the country as a whole benefits. Meanwhile, the governor of Córdoba, Martín Llaryora, has expressed his gratitude to the national government for the temporary reduction of withholdings on the agricultural sector and has pointed out that these resources will be of great help for the sector to overcome the difficult current situation. Llaryora has highlighted the urgency faced by many producers and has appreciated the government's attention to their needs.
