Neighbors of the Delta of Tigre, in the province of Buenos Aires, have organized to protest due to the lack of maintenance of the docks they use daily. In light of this situation, Enrique Baena, a neighbor of Canal Arias, indicates that the community is called to mobilize to make their demands and needs heard.
"We will meet at 11 at the mouth of the Tigre River and the Luján River, and from there we will march in a caravan to the river station to deliver a petition to the authorities. We are left cut off, as the community dock has not received the adequate maintenance from the authorities," Enrique explained. The lack of access to the dock is affecting the population, especially the children who use it to go to school.
The Isle Assembly also denounces the privatization of the coasts and roads, as well as the advance of Nordelta in the area of the Guazú Nambí stream. The neighbors demand urgent attention to the repair of the docks and neighborhood roads, as well as access to the coasts. The lack of maintenance has left the community isolated, without access to basic services such as public passenger transport and the collective boat.
Vicky, a neighbor of Canal 1 and Río Sarmiento, recounts her experience and highlights the importance of the dock for the community. The company Líneas Delta has announced that it will stop at the Dique Luján stop, arguing difficulties in leasing and maintaining the dock. The neighbors feel abandoned by the municipal and provincial authorities, who have not yet responded to their demands.
In light of this situation, the island community has decided to mobilize in a water caravan to demand the repair of the docks, access to the coasts, and the defense of their rights to free movement. Despite complaints and demands made to various government agencies, the lack of response has led the neighbors to take measures to make their needs and demands visible.
