Despite allowing us to enter the establishment, we were not assigned tasks, which triggered a series of negotiations, assemblies, and complaints. Finally, on December 20, a truce was signed, as many plants halt their activities during January due to vacations or maintenance, significantly reducing the production of medicinal oxygen, with only one shift remaining operational.
At the bus terminal, in addition to distributing flyers among people returning from work, an assembly was held with the support of the workers. In a conversation with Maxi Arecco, one of the ten workers dismissed from Linde Praxair, he shared details of the beginning and development of the struggle.
Yesterday, January 29, various groups belonging to the Committee of Solidarity with the Dismissed Workers of Linde Praxair - Pacheco and the Workers' Space of Northern Zone conducted an informational campaign at the bus terminals of El Talar, Ricardo Rojas, and La Paloma to explain to the community the conflict related to the persecution of delegates in the industrial gas factory of Greater Buenos Aires.
According to Maxi Arecco, "The company is considering ratifying the dismissal of six workers, so it is very likely that forceful measures will return once this happens." He also mentioned that the workers of Linde Praxair have been organized for years, since 2005.
During a flyer distribution carried out in various points of Tigre yesterday afternoon, several groups, organizations, and political parties joined efforts to demand the reinstatement of four workers, rejecting the exclusion of six others in the negotiations. During the days of conflict, a camp was set up at the entrance of the Pacheco plant, and a solidarity committee was formed with the support of various trade union, political, and territorial organizations.
After 30 hours of forceful measures, the company decided to revoke the dismissals, demonstrating the effectiveness of the pressure applied by the workers. Maxi Arecco shared that, despite the merger between Linde and Praxair in 2019, the workers coordinated with other establishments in Buenos Aires to maintain unity and resist the divisive attempts of the company.
In summary, the conflict at Linde Praxair began with the dismissal of ten workers on December 5, 2024, which revealed a long history of anti-union policies by the company. After a constant struggle for their rights, including union affiliation and the formation of an internal committee, the workers managed to reverse the dismissals through forceful measures and solidarity protests at all the company's branches in the Greater Buenos Aires area.
