In the province of Salta, preventive measures against dengue have been implemented, encouraging neighbors to use damp sand instead of water in cemetery flower pots. This action aims to prevent the spread of mosquitoes that transmit the disease.
Luis López, director of the Municipal Cemeteries, explained: "We have reiterated the request to neighbors to try to avoid using water and thus combat the spread of dengue". Signs with this recommendation have already been placed in the cemeteries of Santa Cruz and San Antonio de Padua.
Additionally, it was announced that next Saturday, March 1, both cemeteries will remain closed for fumigation and flower removal tasks, as part of preventive actions. Although outbreaks of dengue were reported in previous years, this year has remained calm so far.
The Government of Salta reported an increase in dengue cases, with six confirmed cases so far, all in good health. There have also been 27 probable cases and 72 suspected cases, which are under investigation to confirm the diagnosis. The head of the Epidemiological Surveillance program, Vanina Galván, indicated that the circulating serotype in most cases is dengue 1.
Health authorities have emphasized the importance of raising awareness among the population and continuing preventive measures to avoid the spread of this disease.
