In the city of Reconquista, Santa Fe province, a man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing his stepdaughter. According to information from the Public Ministry of the Accusation (MPA), accessed by the Argentine News Agency (NA), this is 51-year-old Hugo Agustín Romero, who committed the attacks between June and December 2024 while he was in a relationship with the victim's mother. Prosecutor Georgina Díaz explained that the abuser took advantage of the moments he was left alone with the girl to perpetrate the abuses at the home they shared and at Romero's house. Through an abbreviated trial, the rapist acknowledged his responsibility as the author of the crime of 'aggravated sexual abuse' (committed against a minor under 18, taking advantage of the pre-existing cohabitation, repeated) and 'promotion of the corruption of a minor' (qualified by the age and the pre-existing cohabitation). In this context, Judge Norma Senn imposed a 12-year prison sentence, and the defendant accepted the penalty.
