Argentine Lawyer Sentenced for Sexual Abuse

The justice system of Santa Fe province has confirmed a three-year suspended sentence for a lawyer for sexually abusing a teenager in his law office. According to information from the Ministry of Public Prosecution, accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the lawyer in question is Ricardo Ceferino Degoumouis. He committed the attacks between October 13 and November 16, 2022, in an office in the city of Reconquista. The victim, whose identity is protected, went to the location after being summoned by the perpetrator with the aim of preparing for a Chamber Gesell interview within the framework of a case against her cousin, who was represented by the defender. The victim and the aggressor were left alone on several occasions, but on two of them, the convicted man abused this situation, proposing to have sexual relations to "solve all the legal problems for her cousin," the prosecutors stated. On December 20, 2024, Degoumouis was sentenced to three years of conditional prison for the crime of simple, repeated sexual abuse, while he was also given a perpetual disqualification from practicing the legal profession.
