Argentine justice is investigating the death of a 4-year-old girl who drowned at the CĂrculo Universitario de la Ribera club, located in the Buenos Aires Aires town of Quilmes. The victim, identified as Olivia Pilar Larrosa, was found dead in a swimming pool. Staff from the SAME emergency medical service arrived at the scene and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, but the child's death was later confirmed, as reported by the Argentine News Agency with information from local media. Prosecutor Mara Torres, of the Quilmes Judicial Department, is involved in the investigation and has taken statements from the property's staff, while preliminary analysis results are awaited. The sports club declared five days of mourning and suspended its activities, while issuing an official statement expressing condolences to the family. The club, in turn, stated that despite the lifeguard's and doctors' reaction, "they could not resuscitate Olivia".
"Olivia, like so many other children in the neighborhood, enjoys outdoor life with their families, so appreciated in these times of virtuality. Children very much loved by this club," they added.
