A 16-year-old boy, accused of killing Bautista Coronel during a fierce fight in front of a casino in Necochea, will remain in detention. It was reported that there could be more arrests or charges against the other boys who filmed and incited the brawl. Sources close to the case confirmed to the Argentine News agency that the accused is detained at the Batan Minor Penitentiary Center and that on Wednesday, November 5th at 10:00, he will have a hearing in the Guarantees Court for Minors “to decide on his preventive detention”. The prosecution also indicated that there is a possibility that “other people will enter the process with different degrees of participation” and that this determination will depend on “the testimonies and the analysis of the seized phones”. The incident took place this past weekend when a video of the fight between the victim and the detainee went viral on social media. Surrounded by several young people who were filming and inciting the fight, the accused and Coronel started throwing punches and kicks, but during the brawl, everything got out of control. Amidst screams, they used sharp objects, and it was at that moment that the detainee stabbed the victim in the groin, causing him to bleed out and suffer from hypovolemic shock. The minor died at the Municipal Emilio Ferreyra Hospital. The case is under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Criminal Responsibility Court and has been filed as “homicide qualified by the use of a bladed weapon”.
