Tragic attack in Moreno: delivery person murdered

A delivery man was murdered this afternoon in Moreno after being stabbed at least seven times by a man, who also assaulted a street vendor in the same incident. The tragedy took place at the intersection of Asconapé and Alem during this afternoon, when an individual waiting for a bus started a discussion with the street vendor.

In the midst of the dispute, the attacker pulled out a knife and attacked both the delivery man and the vendor. The street vendor died on the spot, while the delivery man, identified as Leonardo Ernesto Merollo, 32 years old, was seriously injured with two stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. Despite being taken to a nearby hospital, Merollo could not survive the chest wound.

The attacker, Luis Benjamín Benítez, 38 years old, was arrested by authorities after the attack. This individual has a criminal record for property and person-related offenses, including two aggravated robberies and a simple robbery. The Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) number 4 of Moreno is in charge of investigating the case.

Upon hearing the news, a group of delivery men approached the First Police Station of Moreno to protest against the unleashed violence. "What are you looking at?" were the words that triggered the fight between the attacker and the victims, in a tragic outcome that mourns the families of Lucas Nahuel Aguilar, the deceased street vendor, and Leonardo Ernesto Merollo, the delivery man who lost his life in this unfortunate incident.
