The Supreme Court dismissed a motion filed by the defense of the suspended prosecutor of Morón, Alejandro Jons, thereby supporting the continuation of the investigation against him for alleged denial of justice. Jons was suspended from his position in 2017 as part of an impeachment process. Since then, the defense has submitted various appeals, all rejected, until the case reached the Supreme Court, which has now dismissed the motion on formal grounds.
Jons is accused of being part of a criminal organization along with two police officers and a fake lawyer, dedicated to fabricating cases against innocent people to appropriate their assets. In June 2020, the Morón Chamber of Appeals and Guarantees dismissed him by majority, arguing that the accusation did not fit a criminal offense, although it did not consider the action as time-barred.
One of the most notable cases he is being investigated for is that of Jorge Nievas González, sentenced in 2006 to 25 years in prison for a homicide during a bank robbery with evidence that, according to investigations, was "planted" by a police chief. In 2015, the Supreme Court acquitted and released Nievas González.
