
A 34-year-old Buenos Aires police officer was involved in an armed confrontation with two motorcycle robbers who attempted to rob him while he was heading to work in the locality of Merlo, Buenos Aires province. The incident took place at the intersection of Noguera and Billiken streets on Thursday morning.
According to police sources cited by the Argentine News Agency, upon reaching the intersection, the officer was approached by two men on a red and black Twister motorcycle who tried to rob him. In response, the officer identified himself as such and, in self-defense, fired five times at the criminals.
Following the shooting, the motorcycle driver died at the scene, while his accomplice initially managed to escape but was eventually shot about 150 meters away on Billiken street. The MorĂ³n UFI No. 1 intervened in the case and ordered the necessary forensic investigations to clarify the facts.
"The man was walking down Griveo street toward his job and immediately upon turning onto Noguera street against traffic, he encountered two men on a red and black Twister motorcycle who mounted the sidewalk to confront him," authorities explained in a statement about the incident.
