A carnival in the Argentine city of Mercedes was marred by a series of violent incidents. A day before 18-year-old Brian Cabrera was murdered, a man was stabbed, but the festival continued. Shortly after, the teenager was shot and killed. Three members of one family have been arrested.

The city of Mercedes in Argentina was the epicenter of several violent incidents. According to Noticias Argentinas (NA), a day before the murder of Brian Cabrera, a man was stabbed during the carnival, yet the festival continued. In a video obtained by the agency, the detained suspect can be seen threatening the injured victim during transport: "I'm going to kill you." Despite this violent scene, municipal authorities decided the carnival would proceed. The next day, Cabrera, 18, was murdered. In another video accessed by NA, neighbors are seen enjoying a parade when at least two gunshots are heard, causing a wave of people to run. The victims were a grandfather, his daughter, and his grandson. Three suspects, all from the same family, have been arrested for the young man's murder. As the homicide of Cabrera, who was shot in the head, continues to cause public outcry, the city informed Noticias Argentinas that on the first day of the carnival, a man was stabbed and another person was detained. It was later learned that the shots were fired from a .22 caliber revolver, and three people have been arrested for the murder: María Luján Auza, Martín Ezequiel Auza, and Omar Teodoro Auza.
