A night of music and popular festivities ended in tragedy in the province of Buenos Aires, after an 18-year-old man was shot dead during a carnival celebration in the city of Mercedes. The victim, identified as Brian Cabrera, was attacked around 1:00 AM on Avenue 29 while a musical band was performing on the main stage before a crowd participating in the second night of the local corsos. The episode of violence erupted after an apparent argument between the teenager and an older man. Some witnesses stated that the aggressor drew a firearm and fired direct shots that hit Cabrera in the chest and the occipital region of the head. Despite being urgently taken to the Blas Dubarry Hospital, official sources confirmed to the Argentine News Agency that, 'despite all the maneuvers performed, unfortunately his death occurred' after suffering two cardiorespiratory arrests. The police response allowed for the rapid identification of the alleged perpetrators through the review of security cameras. In a raid, officers detained a 33-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, from whom 'a firearm was seized that would have been used in the homicide.'
