The incident occurred this early Sunday morning when Juan Marcelo Tejada Jofré was hospitalized in the exclusive pavilion for inmates at the Central Hospital, which is located on the third floor. In the city of Mendoza, Argentina, an inmate died after falling from a third floor while trying to escape from the judicial pavilion of the Central Hospital. According to the Argentine News Agency, authorities confirmed that the inmates had removed one of the bars from a window and hung a sheet to descend. However, during the escape attempt, Jofré slipped and fell, at which point officers were able to confirm the escape maneuver. Although the inmate was immediately transferred to the infirmary for care, hours later doctors confirmed his death. It was also learned that another inmate, identified as Sebastián Leonel Rodríguez, attempted to escape but was detained after trying to pose as the relative of a hospitalized patient.
