On Wednesday, the 2026 school year began in the Argentine province of Mendoza. Approximately 302,500 students from Initial, Primary, Special Education, and Youth and Adult levels, as well as first-year secondary students, started classes. In neighboring Neuquén, the school year also commenced for Initial and Primary levels, while the schedule for other modalities will be completed in the coming days. Mendoza's governor, Alfredo Cornejo, presided over an event to inaugurate the CIET S/N Centro de Innovación Educativa Tecnológica school in Lavalle. "We begin the 2026 school year in Mendoza with the conviction that education is the foundation of development and the most powerful tool to expand opportunities in our province," Cornejo stated. He highlighted the progress in infrastructure projects, classroom expansions, and building improvements across the province. The Mendoza school calendar will continue on Monday, March 2, when secondary students from 2nd to 5th year return to class. Meanwhile, Neuquén's government reported that the school opening proceeded normally, with Governor Rolando Figueroa noting this is the second consecutive year classes begin as scheduled, demonstrating institutional predictability.
