The Minister of Infrastructure of Buenos Aires, Gabriel Katopodis, along with several mayors, signed a legal presentation against the national government for misappropriation of funds and the state of neglect of the country's roads. According to the issued statement, the lack of fund transfers from the Executive is having direct consequences on the productive development of the regions and the safety of the people who travel them.
In the press conference held in front of the Basilica of Luján, Minister Katopodis highlighted the need for the government to explain the destination of the 200 billion pesos collected through the Fuel Tax and the 1 trillion coming from the PAIS Tax, funds that by law are allocated for infrastructure projects, especially for the repair of neglected roads.
"We want justice to order the national state to urgently resume all these works since the safety and lives of people are at stake," emphasized Katopodis. The minister also denounced that, despite the resources collected, in the last 40 years no president of the nation has carried out the construction of new kilometers of road and all ongoing projects have been halted.
Among the mayors present at the signing of the legal presentation were Leonardo Boto from Luján, Ariel Sujarchuk from Escobar, Diego Nanni from Exaltación de la Cruz, Mauro Poletti from Ramallo, Miguel Gesualdi from San Andrés de Giles, Mariana San Martín from Mercedes, Iván Villagrán from Carmen de Areco, Marisa Fassi from Cañuelas, Nelson Sombra from Azul, Germán Lago from Alberti, and Marcos Pisano from Bolívar, among others.
