Attack on Gendarmes in Ezeiza Prevented Gas Pipeline Explosion

Two criminals shot at National Gendarmerie personnel who were exercising in the Ezeiza Woods. However, their main target was reportedly to blow up a gas pipeline located there, as they had left two hand grenades and flammable liquid. According to the Argentine News Agency, it all began this Friday when officers from that security force, belonging to Mobile Unit 6 of Ezeiza, were doing physical activities and spotted a black Honda Tornado 250cc motorcycle running inside the National Park, but without any occupants. Upon checking the area, they saw two individuals next to a Metrogas gas pipeline. When they saw the uniformed officers, one of the suspects fired two shots without hitting the gendarmes, who threw themselves to the ground to avoid injury. The attackers quickly fled the scene, and the officers noticed that about five meters away there was a high-pressure gas pipeline from Metrogas and next to it, they had left two hand grenades with the safety on and two bottles with flammable liquid. The suspects reportedly attempted to blow up that gas pipeline, but the arrival of the gendarmes prevented this action. The uniformed officers established a security perimeter in the area to secure the explosive devices and the flammable liquid and notified Federal Judge No. 2 of Quilmes, Luis Armella, who immediately requested the intervention of the Federal Police Anti-Explosives Brigade and firefighters from that force. Upon arriving at the scene, PFA experts inspected the area and found two spent cartridge cases, which were secured for an on-site inspection.
