A lumber company in Chaco was defrauded by criminals for an amount of $122 million and after several raids, part of the stolen goods appeared in a furniture factory in the province of Corrientes. The curious case took place in October when the company reported that a person had contacted them to make a large purchase of woods and that they would pay with electronic checks. Nothing seemed suspicious at that moment, but the situation changed when the checks were rejected due to insufficient funds, resulting in a loss of $122 million.
The Cyber Crime Department initiated an investigation and after inquiries, they confirmed the physical location where the stolen woods were supposed to be. According to local media, personnel from the Guarantee Court No. 2 of Resistencia and the Cyber Crime Department traveled to Corrientes to verify the accuracy of the information obtained. A raid was conducted at a small factory that made furniture in the Esperanza neighborhood, where they managed to establish the presence of several of the reported woods, as well as furniture made from those materials.
Some of the seized items were: planks, beams, wardrobes, cabinets, chairs, tables, sideboards, a drawer-type shelf, wooden material, and two cell phones. Four Colombian nationals and one Argentine were identified in the factory.
