Two official experts have been detained in the province of Córdoba accused of extorting money from a person convicted of homicide. It is estimated that they demanded the sum of $2,700,000 in exchange for preparing a favorable report for their interests. The Instruction and Multiple Jurisdiction Prosecutor's Office of Rio 2° ordered the indictment and detention of psychologist Marcia Mariel Lupi and social worker Silvia Patricia Romero for the crime of aggravated illegal exactions. The case began after a lawyer reported to the prosecutor's office that both official experts from the technical team of Rio Segundo were demanding that his client pay the sum of $2,700,000 in exchange for obtaining a favorable sentence, according to the statement from the Public Prosecutor's Office. After receiving the complaint and in coordination with specialized personnel from the Operational Investigation Directorate (DIO), extensive and important evidence was collected, so in the last hours the aforementioned professionals were apprehended at a gas station. On this occasion, the cell phones of the accused were seized, and after the necessary legal proceedings, the women were ordered to be housed in the relevant Penitentiary Establishment, the Argentine News Agency learned. 'The investigation continues and the expansion of the charges is not ruled out,' they detailed.
