The family of Nora Dalmasso is "hopeful" about the potential impeachment of the first three prosecutors in the case and, while awaiting the appeal of the dismissal of the sole accused, they remember the victim 19 years after her murder.

On Wednesday, November 26, a new anniversary of one of Argentina's most shocking homicides is commemorated. This case remains unresolved, and the investigation was mishandled, leading to the statute of limitations expiring over the years.

Nevertheless, amidst an atmosphere of uncertainty and pain, Agencia Noticias Argentinas contacted Maríangeles Mussolini, the lawyer for Facundo Macarrón, Dalmasso's son. She stated they are "hopeful" that next Tuesday, December 2, the impeachment of prosecutors Javier Di Santo, Daniel Miralles, and Luis Pizarro will be approved.

"They are expectant, waiting to see what the Justice system decides. The family trusts in the institutions," Mussolini stated.

Regarding the appeal requested against the dismissal by the Criminal, Correctional, and Accusatory Chamber of 2nd Nomination of Río Cuarto against Roberto Bárzola, the only accused in the case, Mussolini explained: "We initiated the appeal, the Chamber admitted it, and it has been forwarded to the High Court of Justice (TSJ)".

In the document released by the Justicia de Córdoba portal, it was indicated that the Chamber made this decision because "from midnight on the date the alleged crime was committed until the present, almost 19 years have passed. This is a period exceeding the maximum time limit established by substantive law for the statute of limitations to apply."

In this sense, Article 62, section 2, of the Penal Code (CP) establishes that the maximum statute of limitations for the crime attributed to the accused Bárzola is 15 years.

"If they grant our appeal, it would be very good for us because it would move the accusation against Bárzola forward. But if that doesn't happen, we will have to go the extraordinary appeal route to the Nation's Supreme Court of Justice," she explained.

When asked how long the TSJ's response could take, she highlighted: "They usually take a long time to make these decisions, so we won't have any news this year."

"The family trusts in the institutions," Mussolini stated.
